While we here at Cutting Room Studios never plan on walking away from what it is we do best, which is mastering great music, we are looking forward into the future with Film in our sites. We’ve invested 2 million SEK in expanding our location to incorporate an all new Studio. We plan to call this studio our D-Cinema.
As the film industry evolves from 35mm film to digital cinemas, Scandinavian film companies require a leader to provide digital cinema packages locally. Those forcing this evolution are those of the Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI). What is the DCI? I’m happy to tell you.
Digital Cinema Initiatives, LLC (DCI) was created in March, 2002, and is a joint venture of Disney, Fox, Paramount, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal and Warner Bros. Studios. DCI’s primary purpose is to establish and document voluntary specifications for an open architecture for digital cinema that ensures a uniform and high level of technical performance, reliability and quality control.
Because of these initiatives, the way we will be viewing films in the very near future will be completely provided through digital formats. DVD & Blu-ray are part of this evolution. If you have visited a movie theater recently and seen a film in 3D, this is also a part of the evolution. Svensk Filmindustri here in Sweden has already installed 3D projectors within all of the SF cinemas, while the investment of 2K cinemas has also grown in the recent year. HDTV, Web Streaming, DVD, Blu-ray, and now theaters will be viewed digitally, thus requiring the demand of a local Digital Cinema Package Provider.

It might have been a well kept secret, but we’ve been working with digital film since 2003. We have a large discography of DVD and Blu-ray productions. We’ve also been the proud supplier for the ABBA Gold restoration where we restored 25 music videos for the upcoming re-release. Utilizing the techniques of frame by frame restoration, ABBA Gold is soon to be released just in time for Christmas.

Launching in December
We’re already launching our first production in December with our first project D-Cinema Package and we’re taking in orders from our existing film clients ongoing. It’s going to be a Digital Christmas in 2010 and a Digital New Year!
